Hello, my name is Kyle but when I’m DJing I go by DJ K Dilla. Music has always had a place at the front of my heart. My most memorable birthday present was a Sony boombox my parents gave me when I turned eight. Shortly after, my older sister taught me how to record on to a cassette tape from the radio or CDs and I was making my own mix tapes as a child. Every Christmas I would ask for CDs. As time passed I evolved to downloading music from LimeWire and making mix CDs. Then Ipods happened. I was addicted to finding as much music as I could and organizing it in iTunes. I spent a good chunk of money on buying CDs from Media Play, Circuit City, FYE, Graywhale, and Target, everywhere but Walmart (IYKYK) and growing my collection, I wanted all of it!
When I was 19 years old I remember having a wondering thought if I should buy DJ equipment, it was an easy answer for me, NO! I never wanted to be a DJ, I just enjoyed listening to music. Seven years later I was at a party with a DJ and he let me hop on the decks. That lasted about 30 seconds before I was kicked off. That week I bought my first DJ controller. I slowly started DJing for friends, private parties, corporate parties, local artists, and weddings. I have a strong love for music and DJing has overwhelmingly expanded that love.
